My backgound and journey to this point.

Who am I?

I’m Olivia, an outgoing and curious student passionate about building spaces where people come together to do meaningful things. Over the past two years, I’ve been deeply involved in the startup community in Aalto and beyond as well as student culture, learning how communities operate and work. My main goal is to found my own startup one day.

I’m a generalist at heart with a systematic approach to everything I do. I believe I am great at planning, structuring, and leading projects from idea to execution, and I know how to guide teams effectively in different contexts. With the right people around me, I can turn even the most ambitious visions into concrete outcomes.

Below I explain all of this in a little more detail than just LinkedIn can provide ;)

Why am I running?

Over the past year I have been heavily involved in Aaltoes projects and the Startup Sauna community, notably as a member of Junction's Core Team and being a Head at wednesday. This has given me a solid understanding of what Aaltoes and its projects and spin-outs already do well and what is still missing.

Simultaneously I have been an active member of other student communities in Aalto, where I have noticed that many people do not find their way here. I want to change that.

Also, having been interested in startups since the age of 14, I have many ideas for how we could effectively use the resources and connections we have and develop new ones to support entrepreneurship in Finland.

My story starts here in Finland. I spent the first six years of my life here (just being a kid :D) before moving with my family to the UAE. We were supposed to spend 2 years there, but that ended up turning into almost 13.

While there, in middle school my interest in entrepreneurship and especially startups was sparked when I was placed in an incubation program. There I got to learn about the process of founding. I did that a few times and served as a mentor too.

Then came the final years of high school where my main goal was to focus on school and decide what my next step would be. I then decided that I would move back to Finland to start university, and so I did just that and came here at the end of August in 2023, when I started my studies in Industrial Engineering and Management at Aalto.

During the first year of my studies, I was an active member of my guild and mostly focused on getting used to living here again. Believe me when I say this was not easy, though I have fallen in love with the ecosystem here and that is what has made me stay for the time being (at least until I graduate).

I attended a wednesday. event for the first time in 2024 and knew I had found my people and path again. That led me to join the 2025 team as the Head of Database in the Fall, along with volunteering at Slush. These gave me an entry into the ecosystem, with wednesday. becoming my most important source of encouragement.

My guild Prodeko has remained an important part of my life and I also took on a few roles there. This led me into the depths of teekkari culture (and also the student culture in Otaniemi more broadly).

Then, this Spring, another key event took place: I joined Junction's Core Team as the Head of Global Operations.

This in turn brought me deep into the culture of Startup Sauna, while also allowing me to get more involved and aware of all that Aaltoes does.

During the past year, I have learned more than I could ever possibly have imagined to. I have spoken to a crazy amount of people, gone on numerous trips and also seen first-hand how Aaltoes impacts the startup ecosystem in Aalto, Finland and beyond.

Now, I want to take the next step by taking all of my learnings and ideas and contributing to the impact Aaltoes will have next year by being the Former of the 2026 Board. You can learn all about my vision and goals on the page Aaltoes 2026.

But now enough about me, the best way to learn more is to come and speak to me or send me a message ;)
